Rotten Tomatoes: 53%IMDB: 6.2 64/100 Spooktober 2025 Wade: "There was no driver in the car." Elliot Silverstein's possessed vehicle thriller rides the line between genuinely unsettling and delightfully absurd. This Jaws-on-wheels concept works better than it should, mostly because everyone involved plays it completely straight. James Brolin anchors things as the small-town sheriff trying to stop a demonic Lincoln Continental. Kathleen Lloyd does solid work as his teacher girlfriend, especially during the cemetery standoff where she taunts the car from consecrated ground. Ronny Cox brings unexpected depth as the alcoholic deputy. R.G. Armstrong steals scenes as the crusty, dynamite-wielding drunk. The customized George Barris Lincoln looks menacing as hell—sleek, black, and genuinely intimidating. The practical stunts hold up impressively,…

Essentially "Jaws," but instead of a shark, it's a vengeful "evil" car with a thirst for blood. Simply put, it's a car with no driver that careens aimlessly through the streets, mowing down anyone unfortunate enough to get in its way or annoy its... engine? James Brolin does a good job as the sheriff tasked with stopping this car from wreaking havoc in his small town. Besides Kathleen Lloyd, who looked like a cross between a young Lacey Chabert and Sarah Silverman, the rest of the cast is competent but doesn't particularly stand out. And if explosions are your thing, you won't be disappointed. All in all, a film that, for whatever reason, opts for the serious over the campy, ultimately weakening the film, but which still manages to be somewhat amusing. This is a movie that I've been meaning to check out for so many years and I'm so happy that I finally did. I found the concept to be very entertaining it's one of the first to do this type of concept but we've seen a lot of movies like this a lot of years later. The acting was good it stared Kyle Richards before halloween she did such an amazing job. The cinematography was very good as well. There was a sequel released back in 2019 which I'll check out next hopefully it's as good as this one. Overall I would highly suggest this movie to everyone, especially to people that like these killer object horror movies.
