Trakt Reviews

My review is based on the first 4 episodes (which is the point, where I'll probably stop watching this cr*p). It’s terrible, boring. It’s a legal drama about Matt Murdock, not a superhero show about Daredevil. Before this new show started in an official IMDB interview (https://m.imdb.com/video/vi3541026329) Vincent/Kingpin said, this show will be darker than the original. No it’s not. It’s not dark, it’s boring and lacks any action. Kingpin is no longer a huge, scary criminal! No, he’s a depressed politician that looks like someone who’s suffering from autoimmune disease. It’s ridiculous. The original Kingpin character (which exists in comic books since the ‘60s) is a huge guy, fat but muscular: almost a giant! If Vincent decided to lose weight, then the creators should’ve found another huge actor to play Kingpin’s role, because Vincent no longer looks like Wilson Fisk. In the same interview John/Punisher said, “we won’t pull punches”. This was another untrue statement. In the new show they do nothing else than pulling punches. Actually there aren’t ANY punches in this awfully boring drama. It’s not a superhero story anymore. Who the hell cares about Matt Murdock as a lawyer? Daredevil is a superhero. I don’t care about his private life to that degree. The balance between being a superhero and a private person was perfect in the original show. Some private life is indeed necessary, if we want a clever, suspenseful story that also has a meaning. Without the private life of the superhero the shows and movies are usually just mindless action movies. But in this “Born again” trainwreck they totally overdid it! It’s nothing else than private lives, that is extremely boring and pointless. In the original interview Foggy Nelson said “It’s amazing to be on stage with these guys again.”. Another lie. He’s not on stage with them. The writers killed Foggy in the first 5 minutes. (It’s not a spoiler, since this happens already in the OPENING scene.) He’s not in the show anymore, which is another huge let down! Foggy Nelson was an essential character, because in the original story in the comic book Foggy is the sidekick/best friend of Daredevil. I didn’t like him very much in the original show, but he was definitely a very important character. Writing him off the show is like killing Lois Lane at the beginning of a Superman movie. What a terrible idea and what a huge disappointment for fans! So, in that early interview none of the actors said anything true about this horrible sequel, which is more a parody of the original show, than an authentic sequel. Only the first couple of minutes were enjoyable. Then Foggy died, Daredevil disappeared, and since then: the show is about literally nothing else than: Matt being a lawyer (what I’m absolutely not interested in) and Fisk being a depressed bad husband, a corrupt politician, which are both very boring roles for Vincent D'Onofrio (he can do so much more and better than that!) and also a very boring, disappointing character compared to the awesome Kingpin, who’s an absolute legend. The creators also promised that Punisher will be in this show! I saw with my own eyes that on imdb: John Bernthal’s role in the two seasons of this new show was originally “17 episodes out of 18!”. So they said we’ll see Punisher in EVERY episode of the new show (except one). That would’ve been totally okay with me, more than okay! I was thrilled about that. Now on the same page they say Frank Castle/Punisher can be seen in 12 of 18 episodes! What happened to 17/18?! Why did they lie?! They lied about everything: 1. “We won’t pull punches” - said John Bernthal. That’s not true. The first 4 episodes are nothing else than a legal drama. And there’s no Punisher in them! There’s only a single scene, in which Frank Castle is sitting/hiding in a basement as a homeless loser, just talking and drinking as a “now it all” alcoholic. That’s not Punisher! That’s the alcoholic/homeless version of Frank Castle! There’s no Punisher in the show! 2. “This will be darker” - said Vincent D'Onofrio. Another lie. How could an extremely boring legal drama be “dark”?! There’s nothing dark about it. There’s not even action in the show, other than very very boring, endless court scenes, trials of totally unknown, unimportant characters and couple therapy (WTF?!) of Kingpin and his wife. Who on Earth is interested in that? What’s “dark”? Couple therapy? 3. “It’s great to be on stage again with these guys again” - said Elden Henson (Foggy). No, dear Foggy, you are not on the stage, ‘cause you’re freaking dead! That was another lie to hype and advertise the worst TV show of 2025!

Yet again something great that Disney will kill

What they have done to you, Matt... This is so bland it hurts.

I just hope the reshoots and the hiring of new writers will bring this show back to the Netflix era.
