A dysfunctional couple head to a remote cabin to "reconnect", but each has secret intentions to kill the other.
I’m a bit taken aback by how effortlessly this manages to maintain its sense of humor and mounting stakes despite how often the jokes completely derail the narrative. There’s a real stop-go-stop-go rhythm to this that normally should not work and yet Over Your Dead Body thrives because of it. Downside is there’s a lengthy bit associated with sexual assault that goes on for way too long and sucks most of the oxygen out of the room as it drags on. My theater was virtually completely sold out and the crowd was eating this movie up until that scene. Whole vibe shifted in a really noticeable way. Luckily, the film manages to mostly recover after it, but it does leave a lingering aftertaste that does sour the whole thing. Still fun, still quite funny, just… a little less than ideal.
i know that i can always count on samara weaving to hit the F in Fuck every. single. time.
